“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.” — Robert Laurence Binyon
November 11th, 2022, marks the 104th year since the end of the First World War. Remembrance day, or Armistice Day, as it’s also known, is a day to mark the end of the First World War while we remember the fallen soldiers and commemorate the armistice signed between the Allies and Germany at Compiegne, France, for the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front, which took place on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. On Remembrance Day 2022, we honour those who gave their lives to serve our country.
Here, in the Quinte area, we acknowledge and remember the fallen soldiers and veterans right here in our families and communities.
